COMPETITIVE COMPANIES
Competitive company auditions are held every spring, typically in May. All candidates must have sumbitted a registration form, auditioned for, and been selected to participate in the competitive program.
Company Auditions for the 2025-2026 season will be held May 27th & 28th. Solo, duet & trio auditions will be held May 29th.

* May 27th - Candidates age 7*-12 (*Candidate must be age 7 by Dec 1st, 2025)
* May 28th - Candidates age 13-18
* May 29th - Solo/Duo/Trio Candidates - Solo, duos, & trios will be auditioned first come, first served. All solo/duo/trio candidates will need to have a 30 second routine prepared.
Competitive Company FAQ’s
• What is a Competitive Company?
A Competitive Company is a program for a dedicated dancer looking for a more serious dance environment interested in expanding their ability. A company is a troupe of auditioned & selected dancers who meet weekly to practice technique, combinations, and a routine they will enter in three to six competitions and exhibitions throughout the year. These companies will travel, competing in dance exhibitions, attending conventions, and participating in community events. An audition is required.
• What type of dance styles are offered at the competitive level?
NADC has various dance styles offered at the competitive level including; Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Pom, Hip Hop, Ballet, Kickline, Musical Theatre, and the 2025-2026 season will introduce Contemporary & Line Production.
- Are there different levels of competitive companies?
Yes. There are several different levels of competitive companies both in skill and commitment. Debut, Classic, Elite, Ovation, and Ultraviolet levels are placed based on age, ability and commitment level. Debut and Classic Companies attend 3 competitions per year and meet once a week for class and rehearsal. Elite and Ovaion level dancers will compete at up to 5 events, and must take a required technique calss. Ultraviolet Companies will travel within the mid-west, attend up to 7 competitions per year, attend a required annual workshop, and take a required technique class in addition to their competitive classes. Companies are based on technical skill, commitment level, attitude and sportsmanship.
• What is the cost to participate?
There is no additional tuition cost to be a Competitive Company dancer, however, other costs associated with competitng include convention & competition entry fees, slightly higher costume & shoe fees, and other travel expenses. Convention & Competition rates vary by event and must be paid in full before the event for your dancer to participate.
• When do the Competitive Companies hold class?
All of our Company classes are marked by an asterisk symbol (*) on the summer & fall schedules. They will meet once per week starting in the summer session and continue through the fall/spring session. Elite, Ovation & Ultaviolet Jazz, Lyrical and Ballet company dancers must also take the competitive technique class.
