Competitive Company FAQ’s

•    What is a Competitive Company?
A Competitive Company is a program for dancers looking for a more serious dance commitment. A company is a troupe of auditioned & selected dancers who meet weekly to practice technique, combinations, and a number they will enter in three to four competitions and exhibitions throughout the year. These companies will travel regional Wisconsin competing in dance exhibitions, attend conventions, and participate in community events. An audition is required.

•    What are the types of dance styles offered?
NADC has various different dance styles offered at the competitive level; Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Pom, Hip Hop, and new for the 2019-2020 season, ballet.

  • Are there different levels of competitive companies?  There are two different competitition levels offered, Youth and Senior, with Senior level dancers having slightly more commitment by attending one annual convention and competitng at one additional competition .

•    What is the cost to participate?
There is no additional tuition cost to be a Competitive Company dancer, however, other costs associated with competitng include convention & competition entry fees, costume & shoe fees, and other minor travel expenses. Convention & Competition rates vary by event and must be paid in full before the event for your dancer to participate.

•    When do the Competitive Companies hold class?
All of our Company classes are marked by an asterisk symbol (*) on the summer & fall schedules. They will meet once per week starting in the summer session and continue through the fall/spring session. Jazz, Lyrical and Ballet company dancers must also take the competitive technique class. 

•    When are auditions?
Auditions are held every spring, typically the week after our annual performance near the end of May. Auditions for the 2019-2020 season will take place May 20th - 21st. Stay tuned for this year's audition scheudle. Contact the studio to pre-register!
